A face-lift or rhytidectomy is a procedure performed to rejuvenate the face as it ages. Depending on the age of the patient and the amount of rejuvenation that is expected, the procedure may be more or less involved. Some patients have areas on the face that tend to be more of a concern than others.

When Face-lift surgery is performed the surgeon, Dr. Luis Suarez makes a few small incisions in areas that can be easily covered up. Following this the surgeon will align and pull the muscle base and tissues. Recovery time depends on the patient’s natural reaction to this procedure but generally does not last very long.
The Face-lift surgery lasts approximately 4 to 5 hours. It might be performed under general anesthesia.
After the surgery
After the surgery, patients are discharged wearing a compression bandage for a week, the stitches are removed from two to three weeks and most of the swelling will subside around the fourth week.
Wearing a special facial bandage wrap during the first week, helps avoid excessive swelling. As for the stitches, they will be removed within three weeks. Remember that it takes about six months to get the final results, once all the tissues regain their strength and the swelling disappears.
